Introducing NaviNet for CIGNA HealthCare!
Precertification is here!

Now your office can use NaviNet for CIGNA HealthCare for medical precertification submissions and inquiries! And it’s free!
- Submit precertification requests
- Check the status of submitted precertification requests

Use NaviNet for CIGNA HealthCare precertification for:
- Submission of precertification for inpatient services
- Outpatient services (when required by a CIGNA HealthCare plan)
- Injectable medications (when covered under the medical plan)
Note: This service is not available for behavioral health, dental, or substance abuse precertification requests at this time.
Get answers fast!
Once information is entered, your submission will be assigned a precertification number. You will receive one of the following responses:
- Request is approved
- Service does not require precertification
- Request is pended - the reason it is pended will display. Once CIGNA receives any additional information requested, the medical team will review it (usually within 24-48 hours).
Through the Inquiry feature, you can get the most up-to-date status of precertification requests. Inquire by precertification number or by member. If your request is denied, the status will be updated in the Inquiry feature. The reason for the denial and how to appeal the decision will be communicated via phone and via letter.
Getting started is easy!
NaviNet Security Officers can grant real–time access to the precertification service to authorized users in the office. It’s fast and easy, and access will be granted the next time you log in.
Attention NaviNet Security Officers: For more information on granting NaviNet user permission for CIGNA HealthCare precertifications, go to the Enable Permissions link in the plan transactions menu or call NaviNet Customer Care at 1-888-482-8057.
