When a Care Consideration is identified for an Aetna patient, you will be alerted via NaviNet. Providing Care Considerations feedback via the NaviNet Action Item Log is an important part of the process. Get access to Care Considerations today. Ask your NaviNet Security Officer to enable the Patient Care Reminder Transaction.

To help you and your colleagues determine the best way to incorporate electronic Care Considerations into your office's daily workflow, be sure to review the Care Considerations Quick Tips, especially the following:

View, share, review and respond

Some offices find that the most effective way to manage electronic Care Considerations is for NaviNet users to print and share them with physicians or clinicians:

View the Care Consideration.
Share it with the physician or clinician that coordinates patient care. You may consider printing it and putting it in the patient chart.
Review the Care Consideration. Once the physician or clinician reviews the Care Consideration, he or she should relay the information to a NaviNet user.
Respond via NaviNet using the Action Item Log.

Make sure your NaviNet provider data is accurate

It is important that your NaviNet Security Officer reviews your Aetna provider list in NaviNet to ensure that your office receives the appropriate Care Considerations.

Don't forget to add physicians and clinicians as NaviNet users

Point them to the Physician and Clinician Resource Center. Speak with your NaviNet Security Officer about adding new users!

Aetna Personal Health Records via NaviNet

Aetna Personal Health Records (PHR) are now available via NaviNet. The following information will help you and your colleagues determine the most effective way to incorporate electronic PHRs into your office's workflow.

Get access to Aetna Personal Health Records

Your office's NaviNet Security Officer will grant user access to electronic PHRs by enabling the Personal Health Record transaction. Ask your Security Officer for access today.

View a PHR via NaviNet

There are two ways you can view a PHR via NaviNet.

From Aetna Plan Central:

Log in to NaviNet and select Aetna Health Plan from the Health Plans list on the left.
To search for your patients' PHR information from Aetna Plan Central, select View Personal Health Records from the transaction menu.
Enter search criteria to narrow your search by Aetna member name or member ID.

When initiated by an Eligibility Inquiry:

If a PHR is available for that patient, a pop-up alert will appear on your screen.
Click View on the alert to open the PHR.

View, print, share

Some offices find the most effective way to manage electronic PHRs is for NaviNet users to print and share them with the physician or clinician by putting them in the patient chart.

Add physicians and clinicians as NaviNet users

Providers can view PHRs via NaviNet, too. Direct them to the Physician and Clinician Resource Center or print and share the Aetna PHR Overview for additional information about the value of PHR via NaviNet. Speak with your NaviNet Security Officer about adding new users.

Ask your patients to share their PHR

Encourage your patients to share their PHR. Direct them to Aetna Navigator, the Aetna member website to grant permission for physicians and their authorized office staff to view the PHR via NaviNet.
