Aetna via NaviNet Clinical Resource Center
Aetna LogoCare Considerations are available through Aetna's secure provider website via NaviNet
Aetna Care Considerations identify potential wellness opportunities or safety risks and are sent to physicians based on a patient's claims history. Care Considerations via NaviNet offer the advantages of electronic notification and secure technology to keep patient information safe and confidential. Care Considerations are also delivered via phone, fax or mail.
How do electronic Care Considerations work?
When a Care Consideration is identified for an Aetna patient, an electronic notice will be delivered to the physician office via NaviNet. NaviNet users are notified of the Care Consideration in one of the following ways:
  • Upon initial login to NaviNet
  • When initiated by an Eligibility Inquiry
  • Via the Action Item Log
Ask your NaviNet Security Officer to give you access to Care Considerations by enabling the Patient Care Reminder transaction.
Cycle GraphicProviding Care Considerations feedback via NaviNet is important
Providing feedback about electronic Care Considerations is a vital step in the process to improve care coordination.
  • Enter Care Consideration feedback via the NaviNet Action Item Log about the action taken for a patient.
  • Or, indicate why a Care Consideration may not be appropriate for a patient. This will prevent receiving a duplicate Care Consideration.

Aetna Personal Health Records are also available via NaviNet
Aetna's electronic Personal Health Records (PHR) provide a comprehensive view of a patient's health care treatment and health history. They contain health information derived from Aetna medical and pharmacy claims and laboratory results, as well as patient-reported information. By accessing the PHR, physicians and clinicians can see what prescriptions were filled and when, what diagnostic studies were performed and which specialists a patient may have seen.
How to view a PHR via NaviNet
Only physicians whom the patient designates, and their authorized staff, will be able to access an Aetna PHR via NaviNet. Once a patient grants permission to view the PHR, it can be accessed in one of the following ways:
  • When initiated by an Eligibility Inquiry
  • Through the View Personal Health Records transaction on the Aetna transaction menu.
